Called Ebay this morning after 30+ hrs. of no sales. Got the "everything is OK....nothing is wrong with our servers" I thought that I had done something to tick off the Ebays Gods and they were punishing me. Of course nobody at Ebay told me that everyone else was having issues. Apparently something happened around the 15th of the month as that is when I saw sales....and feedback take a nose dive. I had $8500 + in sales the first 15 days of this month and just over $2000 as of today the 29th...and $800 of that was a local pickup soda machine!!! Not my normal sale item. EBAY, you are not in the business of running your own servers. From what I understand you use to outsorce your servers to companies that actually know what they are doing. Then in 2009 you deciced you could do it yourself. Your site has never been the same!!! Either learn how to take care of your servers running them yourself or go back to outsorcing that part so busuness owners like me can get back to doing what we do best, MAKING YOU MONEY.

Here is just another random forum where sellers are dying off on ebay..shutting down their stores. There are others but I just found this one searching for ebay google panda..

I see the panda google thing unleashed 4/29/12. Makes you wonder doesn't it? Is it possible with that and all of the massive changes going on on ebay that is just too much coupled with the Cassini thing?

Whatever it is.. it is beginning to affect my ability to sleep at night...in addition to putting life into a tailspin...I value my credit and at this point I see it starting to go downhill if this does not change. I really would like to go buy some groceries but can't as I have to same my pennies earned here for the hubbie to get gas to work every day.

I'm holding out hope for the first of the month. If it doesn't improve, my hope will be gone and I will be forced to scale back just to save on ebay fees and eventually will have to shut down upon finding a job.

I work on commission so it is starting to not be worth it anymore. I made a whole $4.79 commission in the last 4 days. Can't live on that. That doesn't even pay gas to get to the job.

Yes, eBay has programming problems due to the ever changing coding changes done to the website for the last 2 years or so, the site was fantastic for buyers two years ago, but the programmers at eBay have been making changes so fast that even the employees of eBay can't keep up with it, this has effected sellers also and how Google indexes eBay product listing pages NEGATIVELY !!!!

At this point in time we can only blame this guy for this mess !!!

When he fires the CEO and CTO this company may have a chance to survive, at this time under present management, eBay is doomed !!!

Try googling your specific items~I just did this and in the first 11 pages of a google search for "60s vintage dress pattern" there are only two showing up. There are 2,440 items with this title right now on ebay. The first one on google shows up on page 3 and the second on page 9. In the past I have googled my items to see where I come up on the search and there have always been many more ebay listings showing up. This panda update may just be a huge part of the problem. It seems that no one knew this panda update was coming??

Go to your my ebay page. Go to manage my store on left of page. Click on it. Look to the left again and you will see my Traffic.Click on it and you will see all your reports.

I wonder if your traffic numbers could be affected by you looking at your own listings. Every time I looked at my own listings previously it would count them as being viewed in my number of views. Today, it does not do that. I also noticed today that I have a crazy number of viewers on my auctions, which I just started last night, so there are no problems with people viewing auctions. With regard to the buy it nows, one of the same items I have also up as a buy it now hasn't received even half the views of its auction counterpart in a month! And I am the cheapest internationally on this particular item in buy it now. The views on the buy it nows, just aren't where they should be if the auctions are so well looked at. Ebay also fixed something with regard to the buyer blocks on May 25th. So hopefully, to those who felt they were not working properly, they will be working properly now.

The sales being off has been going on for about 2 years now, it seemed to rotate before, now though it's sticking around a lot more, longer and to a larger volume of sellers. Some of us have been affected way longer that this, one week gangbusters, next nothing. Now its really spreading.

I hear that there tech's are lowly paid india workers who not a one of them have the same computer, and that there system is being run by these people who don't have the expeiriance that the former higher paid techs did. There so inept, they dont know how to fix it and this place refuses to hire real techs to fix this problem, there doing as they always did, hide the facts.

I keep saying over and over when all browsers are incompatible with a entire site your going to have major issues.

A HUGE mistake also here is the constant changes, they treat there customers like teenagers, some fool here thinks that us buyers want all these changes, this is a buying site, not facebook. The best match messed up far to much, buyers gave up and left, they thought they could no longer find items when the item they wanted was knee deep in china garbage.

The constant chages with a serverly messed up site caused a massive chain reactions of problems.

This site is still taking money for a perfect running place though.

I did another check with search criteria SHIRTS in all categories:

first page what came up had NO COUNT

when I expanded the categories ton the left side of the page

the following came up:

price /ship low 14,024,247

best match 2,646,927

a minute later

price /ship low 13,277,026

best match 2,641,748

a minute later I closed the expanded version

and I got the following result

price /ship low 13,538,737

best match 2,899,650

????????????????????????

after that I tried to go page by page to see all the shirts,

I made it to page 49 (200 items per page), when I changed to

page 50 I received the following message:

WE ARE UNABLE TO SHOW MORE THAN 10,000 RESULTS.

PLEASE DEFINE YOUR SEARCH TO NARROW RESULTS

For me 49 pages x 200 items = 9,800 items,

so I should have been able to see at least page #50,

because 50 pages x 200 items = 10,000

which is NO MORE than 10,000

So I searched for T-SHIRTS BLACK in the subcategory MEN'S CLOTHING (which for me is bad, because I can wear men's or women's shirts = I have to search 2x.= 1x in men's and 1x in women's)

1,266,454 items showed in men's

for me if I would be a seller that means:

if I am not listed in the first 9,800 items

when buyer define their search with the following filters:

ending soonest

new listed

low price

high price

best match

I can't be seen FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!

because 1,256,654 shirts are listed in the gray area where

buyer might never look.

If a buyer looks lowest price = I might be NEVER seen in search result. I might be at position 15,000

then some sell, some will be relisted at a lower price,

so I will be still in position 15,000 or 20,000 etc.

WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY EBAY LISTING FEES when

nobody can search my items??????????

If it's not a very special search criteria like

men's black T-shirt L Beatles etc.

my only luck is, that buyer would enter my store/auction and search there, or see my e-mail promotion.

WHAT A SELLING PLATFORM !!!!!!!!

NO WONDER WHY some seller experience problems!!!!!!!!!!

CHINA has NO PROBLEM, because most of them sell

CAD777864, Your are right the site has been off for 2 years. Right at about mid to late 2009. However there were no black-outs and you could still sell for the most part. Since April 15th everyone that was still selling took a 50% OR MORE cut in pay due to the NEW ISSUES. Yes I would love for them to fix the site to pre 2009 status as that would allow me to pay the house off in a few years!!!! THATS HOW GOOD IT WAS!!! back then. For now, I just want them to get things back to a managable WE CAN SELL AGAIN, point. They have run the company into the ground trying to cut corners, inact policies that were not needed, fix things that were not broken and implimented programs that messed things up further. Their system imploded.....exploded in any case and in laymans terms, IT'S BROKEN! I will say the past 2 days there has been a minimal upward swing. If this keeps up they may be on to fixing it....although everytime I say that I get a black out for 24+ hours.

Yesterday was a tad bit better. However with my average gross sale not including shipping at $4 GROSS that is still not enough to survive on. Until it is consistent I can't get excited over it.

The buying patterns are gone completely.

The rolling blackouts are real.

A NORMAL Monday ship day from weekend would be 35 to 48 boxes. Two day weekend. This 3 day weekend I have16 boxes. VERY VERY LOW and consistently low since lights went out end of April. As we all know here, this is not consistent with the typical lower month of May.

There is no doubt that something is wrong with eBay. This morning I'm going to the PO with 7 packages, should easily be 3 to 4 times that many. For some time now daily trips to the PO should be with 8 to 10 packages, I'm going with 2 to 3. Yesterday alone I had 1 sale. I, like most everyone here is looking elsewhere to sell. Can't pay my bills with what eBay has done to it's site and who truly built it for them.

TODAY is the day that I was told by only 1 of the 14 to 15 calls I made that things should improve. Please report end of day if you saw improvement or if you did not. I can say I just sold a $3.49 item at 6:15 am.... my busy time of morning and that has become rare. Let's just hope there's more!

Same thing here. Usually I am covered up with sewing to do. TRS and *had* the 20% discount but since I can not ship in 1 business day due to making my products, I am losing the discount. (and the "boost" in searches....even though I am a TRS)

About since mid-April sales have tanked. It made me raise my eyebrows enough to check here and it is apparent I am not the only one with these problems. Since it is so wide spread, it is apparent something is messed up somewhere ...and not with the sellers. My 4 kids get groceries on Ebay money, I don't even have enough in my acct now to pay my ebay fees!!! What is up? Do they want to chunk the smaller sellers?

When I'm digging thru eBay I see a mixture of small & large sellers. From selling on eBay, nickel & dime-ing customers works & does add up just as it does for eBay & their sellers. Everyone has to start out some where and some are content and some grow larger. I don't think they wish to weed out small sellers. I just think something is broken as of that majic day when the lights went out. I personally had a goal of maintaining 3200 listings and then I'd change my goal from there. I still have 800 more listings to do which is about 10000 items but cannot afford to list them as I too won't have my eBay fees if it doesn't improve. Thanks for sharing your stories to the new posters.

That you so much for the article! We really should all post our experiences there. They auction bytes is credible and informed and it is a good place to have everyone's story together since eBay deletes forum posts.

We are still having the same unnatural selling patterns. It is usefull to point out that we are selling unique items and do not compete with diamond sellers, so there isn't anyone for eBay to give preferential treatment to for our items. We are selling 2-3 items per hour, then nothing for hours on end. We know right away when it is working and when it is not.

Here we go again....as soon as I say one postive thing Ebay does not disapoint and hits the switch. Normally I don't complain at 12hrs no sales but since that USE TO BE a rear occurance and I am already spending time complaining here then I might as well let Ebay know....That I know....I am in a black out again. So, I have the time to complain and spread the word about this post. Giving me free time does not work well for you Ebay. Time to hit the usuall, daily sites to tweet to them about all this. I will keep it realavent until this is all fixed!!! When it is fixed I won't have time for this nonsence!!!

Oh, I am on yahoo email loops with dozens of bowmakers. I posted over there asking is their sales were down (for those who sell on Ebay) All the responders (MANY) were the same....DOWN DOWN DOWN...Hardly ANY sales at all. They thought they were alone,

MAY 29 UPDATE: last week a poster here said they spoke to someone at eBay who acknowledged the issues and said they were working to have it fixed by Tuesday (today).

My update is that is is just past 1PM EST, and we are on par for our worst day in 7 years- even worse than any day in the last few week. Only one sale so far today. Historically, for the last 1-2 years we would be about 12-15 by this time. The last 6 weeks, while it has varied, we have mostly been at 3 to 6.

What is interesting to note is that yesterday was one of our best days in about 2 months, we were at 15 by this time, and finished the day well above average. Sales and best offers coming in all day long, as well as questions from buyers about shipping outside the US, what accessories to buy, etc.

We know when eBay has flipped the ON switch for us because in addition to many consistent sales, the best offers and eBay messages flow through like water also.

Today the switch is back to OFF, with 1 sale, no questions, no offers. I let some employees go home to save labor hours.

It appears eBay was working on something yesterday, but then reverted things back the way they were. Hopefully they are still working on the problem and will hit the ON switch again for good soon.

My ebay picked up about 7:00pm Last night.

5 sales 1 no pay / 7 questions / 3 best offers. Now back to being dead.

EBAY Stock is up +.91 today.

With regard to improving searchability with google: does anyone know how some sellers are able to have individual listings with direct connections to their feedback as "reviews" on google, and their store name mentioned? When I look up one of my items, "mulan plush", I see that other sellers have these attributes attached to their listings through google, but my listing on like page 7 or something of google only says, "ebay", no store name, no feedback as "reviews", etc.

Additionally, I read that there was a problem with ebay checkout. Does anyone know what the problem is exactly? What is happening with checkout? I personally don't have buyers pay en mass my items with other sellers, as I have had some problems with savvy buyers manipulating the invoice. But is that causing me to lose business perhaps? Any information would be appreciated.

I realize we all are having problems selling, but we also need to try and solve them ourselves as much as possible as ebay is NOT going to help us. Complaining only gets you so far. We need to take some constructive action. We need to figure out how we can improve our searchability, and work around tech problems ourselves if possible. I saw one seller who uses facebook to promote her store, which gives her greater exposure. I'm not into facebook, but maybe others who are can share if it is helping them to drag buyers here.

Interesting development for me yesterday and today. Like some others, sales and hits were up signifcantly yesterday from the past few weeks. So far today, hits are on track to be even higher than yesterday. Sales haven't come in like crazy but most sales come in for me at night. I hope this trend keeps up but, like the rest of you, similar things have happened and sunk back within a couple days. I'm eager to see what things look like at the end of the day. Anyone else seeing increase in hits today?

I was be on the same tide as fastjag as Monday was a better day...however today Tuesday is poor..very quiet...12:07 am $7.99 sale w/ free shipping, 6:11 am $3.49 sale and 10:44 am $6.99 sale w/ free shipping...very quiet.

yep! same 'here' coicidentally! my sales last night came in around 6-7 ish for a good little period they would "NORMALLY", then 'POOF'! of course .. completely dead and absolutely silent, not even 1 stinkin' sale either, since then.. .. . gone again . ..as usual ... ......This is the 'Pattern' that we all know, 'now', that was never like this

Seemingly no set consistent somewhat predictable pattern like it all used to be all before September of last year, when all this first was started getting introducted (Cassini)

I've been at this long enough to know, just as most of you have, and I can definitely say for "CERTAIN" ....that's it's simply the Cassini implementation. ..nothing else period.....this is definitely our enemy here, for ''now'' (as in, "hoping" it actually changes if not even 'improved' by the time this stinkin' thing is finally freaking said and done for once with these people.)

I will let you guys know immediately once and if I ever hear word from my BBB complaint filed as well. Upon contact at that point I'm obviously going to share many more details and elaborate.

And yes, like 'many' others too, I have all my data, charts and everything else to show and support "EXACTLY" and actual factual statistics when this crap started happening (for me it was just like in that Auctionbytes blog link one of you had just posted here recently. YEP! ...the SAME exact thing, around late August/Early September of last year, "BAM"! ...that's when this all first started happening, it was easy to notice obviously, that's when everything fell of the cliff when they first started doing this Cassini crap

Seems to 'ME' that 'now', here recently, we are in the midst of "another" huge secondary storm that has come to pass, affecting even more merchants (like all of you guys here) ...I've been trying to combat and at this thing ever since the beginning (September) ...it's unfortunately never been the same since

Just accepted an offer on an item that was too low but at this point I need to start moving some of these items I have. I already stopped buying for now. If the sales keep up like this I will stop buying for good!!! Unbelievable I have to sell at reduced prices on top of all the lost sales!!! LAWYERS......START A CLASS ACTION SUIT. Many of us can show where we LOST MONEY. Most of us can show where SALES DROPPED OFF BY 50% OR MORE. You can compare month to month or year to year. Make no difference there is an OBVIOUS SUBSTANTIAL LOSS by all of us.

. .. .. "Rolling Blackouts" .. ..on their servers. . . . . ..and I 'believe' it ...and it needs to be 'investigated' ... as well .. .cause "I" think there could be some possible 'fraud' involved ... cause these people obviously still charge all their initial "Insertion Fees" ...unlike A-zon and other places .... . so ..'OBVIously' it's part of their $-making 'model' . ..

"BUT"... . .if these "BLACKouts" are indeed actually true, and somehow provable, demonstrable ....which I have some reasons/suspicions to believe they 'are' ("cooking the books"), obviously (*maybe ever since they started doing the whole "Stores-in-Core", a couple of years back - which I still think was the 'ultimate' blunder if you ask me; the first initial "Deathblow" that set everything else up here to follow), and their servers are now being "OVERbloated", busting at the seams, because of these drastic and sloppy moves that had been made, all this, 'Artificial Inflation', to pump up all their numbers "regardless" of the actual sales ratios (cause they're still at least making continual money off of all the insertion fees by merchants), then 'yeah', it would definitely need to be officially investigated now, somehow.

If they're actually not showing merchant's items all at particular times, these Rolling Blackouts, or whatever the exact case may be, then yeah, there "WOULD" be obvious fraud going on here, that they're continually banking off of, nickel and diming everybody by the 'millions', all of these continual "Insertion Fees" ... and all the while they keep continuing to create these huge messes for everybody in Search, killing their business literally like overnight, in a flip of a careless, sloppy switch, with "NO" official announcements, no official acknowledgements whatsoever

....what would it matter to them right? .... and that, 'other' sellers would just simply be picking up all this "EXTRA" business that should have been all of ours, all because of some crappy sloppy, and as I told the BBB, "Unannounced", "In-Secret" changes, behind everybody's backs, as they someow aim to be just like 'A-zon' and everybody else or whatever .....ch .... ..like copy-cats, creating massive, completely ridiculous and irresponsible destruction along the way!!

....(STILL not one single sale for me 'yet' today btw

...mphf. .......it's a complete joke) ....these peeps need to be held responsible somehow, for all of this, that they've done here to everybody, for sure

Well I am flabbergasted! It started late last night and the flood gates opened up today, I had orders coming in so fast my head was spinning - questions, people buying things in error, had to issue a couple refunds, questions about sizes, styles blah blah blah - I was busy all day long and felt a glimmer of hope, but ahahahaha guess what? they shoved my store back in the closet, I guess they threw me my weekly bone and now I need to shut up and sit down!

It just showed me how well my store would do and my products would sell if I actually had exposure like I'm supposed to be paying for, I didn't even mind being cycled through as long as it use to be regular and my sales averaged out every week to a living wage but I had my fun today and now I'm done, nothing, nada, zip, zilch, zero! my listings are not even getting looked at! I've been wiped off the ole map again - I've never seen anything so freaking hap hazard in my entire life!

Just like in OZ I will feel vindicated when the curtain is pulled down and the man is exposed! The truth about what's REALLY been going on around here.
